Fort Macon Doorways Photo

$25.00Price

The texture of the rough bricks along the walls and the floor speak of the history of the building while also creating a rather haunting environment. From this first room, you can look through successive door frames into six rooms, with light emanating, like a beacon, from a small window in the farthest room, beckoning you into the photograph.

This image was taken Inside one of the twenty-six valulted rooms, or casemates of Fort Macon, which is located in Beaufort, N.C. The fort was built in 1826 and was used during the Civil War by both the Confederate and Union troops at different times. It has also been a civil and military prison, a garrison for state troops during the Spanish-American War of 1898, manned by Coast Artilery troops during World War II and is now a State Park.

Frame and mat not included, but pictured to show you what this image could look like when framed on your wall.
